Don Bosco was born in a little village in Northern Italy in 1815. By hard work and preserving efforts he becomes an educator of the young. He dedicated his life to the welfare of youth. His ideas were far ahead of his time as to be called revolutionary. He opened youth clubs and was first to begin evening classes for working boys. He thought them a trade and made them useful citizens.
Today the Don Bosco Organisation is working in more than 130 countries of the world, run Universities, Colleges, schools, Technical and Agricultural institutes. It is this same spirit that has launched this Don Bosco Industrial Training Centre, at Polur.
This Institute has been giving formal and non – formal technical training since 1987 in electrical, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Carpentry and cabinet making and Welding. Hundreds of boys from the locality benefited by this Institute.
